The Wednesday of Franconia Goes To Holyhead's tour takes the band to Cardiff, with a lunchtime event at Pontcana Fields, followed by an afternoon gathering in Ninian Park. The events attract 100,000 and 33,000 people respectively.

Whilst there is a reasonably good record of the train services in Cardiff that day, many of the arrival/departure times are missing. As such, the trains where times are known are faithfully recreated (with some adjustments to fit the 1981 timetable) and other workings (including some balancing workings required to make the timetable work) have been slotted in where paths are available.
